What is Tantra?               

Well Tantra has many explanations, by many people, by many "Teachers", past & present & is forever changing....it is "unknown" it is "difficult" to put into words...it is mysterious, it is fun, is is scary, it is awesome!

It is powerful transformational work....
                                                                                                             I doubt that this really answers the question of "What is Tantra?"...so here is my best explanation based on my personal discoveries of diving into Tantra for the past couple of years, as the Tantric path is & will be different for each person experiencing it....the only real answer is your own...

Here goes....my answer....Tantra for me..based on what I have learned, discovered, uncovered & am still learning is 
A series or system of meditations,quiet & moving meditations, bioenergetic exercises, reading, practices, breathwork, stillness, mindfulness.....just to name a few...

ok....so you still don't understand it based on words? It's difficult until you experience it, then like I said above, you will have YOUR own answer or explanation...

...example.......You & your beloved...hardly ever look into each others eyes....you pass each other on the way to the kitchen, or the bedroom, or going out the door for work...a peck on the cheek if you're lucky....a "see ya later", or "what time will you be home" & you "get a grunted reply"...not a real answer....do you remember the last time you "REALLY" looked into each others eyes?  Was that on the 1st or 2nd date?,......maybe the first time you made love....or maybe not even then.......

                                                     

In the style of Tantra that I have learned & am learning & now sharing & teaching, we do an exercise called "Soul Gazing"....you sit on the floor(or bed) directly in front one another..you take a deep breath.. you can see each other clearly...knees touching, or hands on each others knees or holding hands if that feels right....you begin to look into each others eyes...seeing that persons face...yet afraid to look because "you might be seen",  all of YOUR unspoken stuff may appear, all the stuff you wanted to say to your partner but never have ..all rise...all the junk in our trunk that we don't want the other to see, nor want to look at in ourselves may rise....emotions surface, the breathing may get a little rapid ...fear comes....you want to run out of the room....but you continue to gaze....the breath gets a little slower....you are asked to gaze into the recipients left eye as this is what is known as the "receptive" eye.....things may change, tears may flow, you may sob, or laugh, or try & hide....you see yourself in this person, you may see the ugliness that "you think you are", you see the beauty that you ARE......you see the beauty in your partner, you may see former partners, family members, parents,people that we never spoke our truths to ...is the persons face transforming?  Different things occuring........you feel weird....you feel vulnerable...you feel safe..you feel love......

THIS is only one example of MANY that I could share....THIS is the Tantra that I know....
